Quality Assurance Inititatives

Passageway is engaged in Continuous Quality Improvement to ensure a high standard of services to our persons served.  Some of our main initiatives include the following:

Cultural Linguistic Competency

Passageway follows the National Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) which are intended to advance health equity, improve quality, and help eliminate health care disparities by establishing a blueprint for health and health care organizations. The Principal Standard states, “Provide effective, equitable, understandable, and respectful quality care and services that are responsive to diverse cultural health beliefs and practices, preferred languages, health literacy, and other communication needs.”

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma is a near universal experience of individuals with behavioral health problems.  An individual’s experience of trauma impacts every area of human functioning — physical, mental, behavioral, social, and spiritual.  This is why Passageway staff always remembers to ask person served “what happened to you?” not “what is wrong with you?”

Integrated Healthcare

Integrated behavioral health care is an emerging field within the wider practice of high-quality, coordinated health care. In the broadest use of the term, “integrated behavioral health care” can describe any situation in which behavioral health and medical providers work together.  Though our various departments, Passageway ensures that our persons served are linked to services based on their individual needs.
